' The figuies denoting th'o amount of civil business transacted in tho Magistrate's Court during the quarter ended June 30, 1909, showthat there has beon a general increase .is compared ■with tha same period of last year. Following are particulars, last year's figures being given ,in parentheses;— Number of orders heard, 103 (125); orders made* other than on .'judgment Gammons, 1 101 (107); plaints entered,- 1716 (1611); distress warrants issued, 267 (190); judgment summonses, issued, 210 (202); orders made on judgment summonses, 65 (37); warrants of committal issued, 11 (11); writs of arrest issued, 3 (4); summonses and other proceses issued by the bailiu\and assistants with--1 in two miles, 948 (793); same over two miles, • 366 (312); distress warrants executed by the bailiff and his assistants, within two miles, 79 (69) j same ovsr two miles, 40 (2i); warrants of committal executed by tho bailiff, S (5). 1 The amount sued for reached a total 'of '■£35,695 ss.- 3d.
