In tho following summaryi tho figuree for tho Apr,il-Juno quarter, 1908, are placed in parentheses:— - Persons taken into custody, summoned or apprehended; 1100 males and 155 females (1257 males and 202 females); discharged for want of prosecution or want of ovidenoo, 100 males and 8 females; (lOp'malee and 1 8 females); dismissed' on. the merits, 20 males and 2 females (20 males and 10 females); committed for trial or sentence, 29 males and 2 females, (36 males I and' 3 females); summarily convicted,; 912 males and 143' females"(loos males and 181 females); fined, 474 males and 33 females (541 males and 40 females); imprisoned in lieu of lino or surety, 134 males and 17 females (183 males and 25- fomales); peremptory imprisonment, 88 males and 25 females.
