Tho revenue returns of the Commonwealth Government and tho various States for the your onded Juno 30 are; Commonwealth.—The Federal rovenuo for ! 1908-09 Was £14,350,460, a decrease of £643,- , 614 on 1907-08. Customs and excise yielded £10,845,493, and Iho Tost Office £3,410,000. Tho expenditure is £6,420,000. The total ! amount returned to the Statee is £7,930,350, a doorcase of £925,650, but in the ! meantime tho Commonwealth has talwn over and earmarked portions of the returns for the purposes of Federal old ago pensions. . Nciv South "Wales.--Tho revenue for 1908-09 is £13,960,000, a decrease 0f'£335,000 on 1907-08. Viotoria.—Tho ~ revenue for , 1908-09 is £8,169,000, a decrease of £110,000. Tho railway revenue established ;i record, amounting to £1,170,000, which is £307,000 in excess of last year's return. It is anticipated, thero will be a surplus of £50,000. .South Australia.—The revenue for 190&-09 is £3,547,000, a decrease of £107,000.
