'.Details of ; a'cow-testing scheme, proposed to bo conducted under itno' auspices of ,the association for official registration,'wcro considered in detail at, the annual meetingof tho Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association, yesterday. -A rough draft of .regulations was submitted by the council, and the following modified clauses, proposed by Mr. .Griffiths, were, adopted as a recommendation to the council:—■'..'■- : -; . '.■..; .. ■■'•;. , : "a..Tho tost shall be.for seven days—that is, fourteen consecutive milkings, the!last to.. be.' 142.hours • after' tho first, and tho. cow .tql bo. milked out twelve hours before the first milking of the test; tho time between the, milkings to be as near twelve hours as possible.", (Moved by.Mr. Griffiths.):\ '.'■'.. .'. "b. All applicants must bo members of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association, and tho tost is only for cattle'registered in the "Jersey Cattle Herd Book." (Tho council.V. '.-'.■ ;..'.. '.. < ■ "c. Any .owner desiring to have cows tested shallapply to.the secretary, "and the application must ho accompanied by a fee to ho fixed by-tho council., (Mr. Griffiths;) ■ "d. Immediately following, thevreooipt.of any application tho council will confer with the Provincial Association'to whiclv the-ap-plicant belongs ',to appoint a supervisor or tester, and the place where tho milk 6hall bo.tested." : (Mr. Griffiths.)'.. ■;■ , At this stage, for want of time,' it was resolved that the council's scheme of cow tests as referred to tho various local councils for suggestion, to bo returned by, July 31.., The council's schemo is as follows:— ■' . .... . (1) Seven days' tost.'* Alk expenses to bo borne by the applicant, and a deposit lodged with, the secretary : of a sum sufficient .to cover all'expenses on making application, (2) Tabulated records in'pounds avoirdupois each milking with time and date. (3) Sample of milk to bo drawn in manner as prescribed by Bulletin No. 6, dairy division of the, Government' Dopartmeht of Agriculture,, and sealed in the ./presence of owner; The tests to be composite. The sample of milk to be taken after the milk,has been poured three ■times from bucket to bucket. Strength of acid to'be used for the seven days' .test to bo supplied. (4) Testing'of; milk samples to be "done at a -butter or cheese factory in accordance with the Government Bulletin Bubcock system and certified to by tho factory manager. _ (5) A fee'not exceeding 2s. 6d.! will be paid for testing each milk sam-. pie. (6) The local committie Bubmit arrangements'to the council to " supervise milking and for testing; milk for approval of the council. (7), All applicants must be members of tho New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association, and tho'test is only for cattle' registered in tho, Jersey Cattle Herd Book. (8) Cows testing twelve pounds and over will bo recorded' in tho Herd Book." \
