JERSEY CATTLE BREEDERS.

ANNUAL MEETING. An annual meeting of the New Zealand Jersey Cattlo Breeders' Association was held on the Manawatu Show Ground on Thursday. Mr. J. A. M'Croa. (president) in the chair. • '> The report road by the secretary (Mr. J. C. Lano) stated that his Excellency Lord Plunkct had accepted tho patronship of the association. A list of judges had been compiled, and sent out for the guidance of vari-' ous associations. Tho question of keeping a record of milk tests had been considered in several forms, and it had been resolved to support a scheme similar to that of tho Manawatu A. and P. Association 'as follows:— ."', That a register bo kept in the Herd Book of all registered Jersey cows cap- . able of showing not less than 121b. of butter fat, or making not less than 141b. of butter per week, under the following .conditions:—A public test, undertaken by • the_ Department of Agriculture's dairy division, of not less than four days, and under the system of tho Manawatu " A. and P. Association,, the results to bo . averaged for the full seven days on tho basis of such a test. Tho council would give a prize of £5 and gold medal to the registered cow (or £5 to tho cow by a , registered bull) • showing the best re/Championship medals'for 1908 were presented to the Auckland Show, and similar medals, for 1909 had been presented to Taranaki; a'condition being that the judge must be from the ."official' list, and that all the animals competing must .bo registered. Volume;'.6of -the Herd Book had been issued. SaJo .■ transfer and . export certificates' were now* issued on request. Tho question of affiliating with the American Jersey.
