MR. EX LEY'S FAMOUS JERSEY HERD. DAIRYMEN'S RARE CHANCE. Tho boom in Jersojs just now —a boom nhich the best authorities say cannot possibly bo satisfied for many years to come — and the growing determination of tho dairy farmers of New Zealand to tost their herds and cull out tho wasters, give special interoat to a salo that is to take place at Han era next month. Tho «ntiro Jersey herd of Mr, T. R. Exley is to , be Bold Dy auction without reserve on July 3. Mr. Exlo/b hordis one of. fho moat famous Jersey studs in tho Dominion, and they are specially noted for thoir utility qualities. Tho list comprises three bulls, five yearling bulls, and sixteen cows, and includes all Mr. Exley's purobred herd except the great 6iro Chorry'e Magnet.' This noted bull, howovor, is -the father of' all the yearling bulls, and one of the three other bulls, and all the sixteen cows are in calf to him. Buyers will, therefore, obtain in each of tho animals offered somo.of the raro dairjing qualities of his dam "Cherry" (21Jlb.' of butter per week) and grand dam on the other, side, Luna 2nd (1741b. of , butter, per week)—a good foundation for any dairyman's herd. Among tho cows the records of milk yield and butter-fat test aro very high.'Tho actual yield of butter-fat given by Gossamer, for cxamplo, tho champion cow at Hawora and Wanganui, has in the last three years been 3851b., 3431b., and (to April 30 only) 3161b. Duchoss Elma's fibres for the last two years' havo been 3801b. and 3471b. (to April 30 last) of butter-fat. Others gave over 3001b. The averago tests range as high aa 6.0. At ordinary dairy factory prices these yields represent a handsome return. The sale will be without rcsorvo of any kind. It will be followed by the sale of six Alderney heifers on account of Mr. A. A. M'Master, the famous breeder of Toka-rahJ, Oamaru. >
