' FAREWELL BY EASTBOURNE RESIDENTS. The Very Rev. Father;- Keogh has... for years been" a weekly visitor to Eastbourne, and when it became known that he was leaving tho district residents of all creeds expressed a desire to do him.honour, and it was decided to mako him a presentation and entertain "him at a complimentary concert and social. ■'.... '.',,, The esteem in which Father Keogh is held by tho residents of Eastbourne was amply demonstrated by tho large and representative* gathering wn ' c h assembled in the Day's Bay Pavilion on Friday evening. His Worship tho Mayor of Eastbourne, - Mr. Jno. Barr, presided, and among an assemblage numbering over 200 persons the following were noticed: Mr. A. L. Herdman, M.P., Mr. 0. P. and Miss Skerrett Dr. Valintine, Mr. R. Tumbull, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Holworthv, Mr. and Mrs. F. Wills, and Mr. W. F.'ShoTtt.. Apologies were read from Bishop Wallis, Messrs. T. M. Wilford, F. G. Bolton, Martin Kennedy, Dr. Cahill, and others. After a very fine concert programme, contributed to by Mesdamcs Stevens and Kelly. Misses Samson, Ross, Guthrie, and Driscol), and Messrs. Shortt, Guthrie, Roberts, Kelly. Harris, Baker, and Howard, the members of tho committee assembled on. tho stage; and Messrs. A; L. Herdman and J. P. : Kelly expressed,, oil behalf of the residents, the. great esteem in which Father Keogh is held and the general regret that is felt at his departure.' .'. ■'■.:'. ■ _■" '_■,' The Mayor, in presenting Father Keogh with a'very handsome and massivo marble clock, spoke in most appreciative terms of Father Keogh's life-Jong labour and;.good work in the cause of religious, educational, and social advancement, and stated that the presentation showed the good _;wishes and kindlv feelings of the whole community, •, In reply, Father Keogh desired to thankall for tho splendid send-off they were giving him, and also for the handsome and costly ■ present, which would serve to remind him of the many happy days he had sponj at East-, bourne.'.:;. .;' . .•' ■ ■'•■- .'■'• \ '.'
