Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Limited, report as follows:—At our Wanganui sal© yesterday 2500 eheep and 60 cattle were yarded. There was a good attendance' and keen competition, nearly a total clearance being made under Hie hammer, with an all-round increase in values. . An attractive line of 700 4-tooth wethers from Air. N. Fitzherbert's Station, yarded in good condition, drew con l siderable attention, and sold remarkably well, the tops making 13s. 6d. and 13s. 7d„ and the balance 12s. Gd. Quotations:—Fat wqthers, 13s. Cd. to 13s. 7d.j fat and forward wethers, 13s. 2d.; good forward wethers, 12s. 6d.; mixed fats, lis.; mixed ago .ewes, in lamb, 10s. 10d., Us. Id., lis.' 4(1., 12s. Id., . 12s. 3d., to 12s. 6d.j cull empty ewes, 4s. 7d.; small lambs, 7s. Id. to Bs. Id. j 4-year steers, <£5 2s; j 2V to 3-year steers (backward), «£3.155.j small empty heifers, Cs. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Limited, report having held their usual fortnightly sa!o at their Masterlon yards yesterday, when they offered a large yarding of all classes of stock, which had com© forward much in .excess of advertised numbers. Bidding throughout the stile was keen, and practically a total 'clearance was effected. Quotations Ewes in lamb, Bs. 9d. to 10s. 10d.; 2-tooth wethers (small), 9s. 4d. to; 10s. 7d.; fat wethers (very good), 13s. lo 13s. 3d.; lambs (backward), 7s. 9d.to Bs. 2d.,- 3-year steers, .£4.185. to «£5 55.; 2-5-yenr steers (very backward), £2 7s. 6d. to J2 18s.; 18-inontlis steers'(low condition), £2; fat cows, £4 to «£4 35.; springing cows,-«£ 2 12s. 6d. to £2 2s. (Br TELEGRAHI— rBESS ASSOCIATION.) 1A 4 ... , Chrischurch, Juno IG. At Addington live stock market to-day there was a good entry of stock, though not so large in the sheep section as last week. There was a good attendance. Store sheep sold well, ew.?s being firmer. Fat cattle showed a decline, owing to the large entry. Fat lambs were lirmer, and fat sheep opened at last week's rates. Pips wero easier all round. The yarding of store sheep was only a moderate one in point of numbers, and was formed it equal proportions of ewes, wethers, and hoggets.. Ewes met with good inquiry, and tor good sorts, there ttas' improvement in prices. Two and four-tooth halfbred ewes of good quality mado 17s, 6d.| and good three* quarterbreds oMhe same a«?e sold at 17s. 3d. A line of failing-month 1 halfbred ewes of cood quality changed hands at lis. 9d. Hoggets sold at late rates, ewe hoggets making lis. to lis. 6d., and mixed sexes Bs. Gd. to 10s. Gd. \Y ethers also showed no change, verv forward fats selling up to 13s. Id.; average'lines, 10s. bu, to lis. 6d.; and low-condition sorts, 9s. 3d. to 9s. ,
Th* entry of fat lambs was .much smaller j numbering only between 2000 and 3000. .The quality,' on the whole, was good, and under active competition from export bujers, prices --were firmer. Average , weights of prime quality sold at 12s. to 145.; teal's. 3d. to 15s. Gd.; and light and unfinished sorts, 9s. Id. to lis. 6d. • The yarding of fat sheep, although a large one, was not quite equal to that of last week, ihere was a good proportion of wethers, and for freezing weights there was improved competition among export buyers; and prices showed an advance of fully Is. per head. Heavy weights were also firmer. Ewes, .on the other hand, Y? 1 * 6 duller of sale, and prip.es ! wero if anything, weaker than the closing rates last week. The range of prices was: —Prime withers, lis. Gd. .to 18s. 3d.; mediums, 12s. to 145.; prime ewes, lis. Cd. to 13s. 9d.; extra, to 14s. 9d.; others, 7s. 3d. to lis.; merino wethers, Bs. Bd. to 13s. Gd.
The supply, of beef was a very large one, totalling 432, a record for the yards. A num- , prime lines wero offered. Prices showed a decline, equal toabout Is. to -3s. per 1001b., as compared with last week. The range of prioss was: Steers, £6 17s. 6d. to'.£ll ss:; heifers, .£5 to JE9; and cows, £4 10s. to £1 155.; equal to 20s. to 21s. 6d.'for prime, 18s. to IDs. Gd. for medium, and 15s. 6d. to 17s. Cd. for cow and inferior, per ,1001b. There was a medium entry of pigs, and the demand was rather slack, prices being easier all round. Choppers sold up to .£1 55.; heavy baconers, 5/s. to 635.; and lighter, 48s. to 555. (equal to 4d. per lb.); heavy porkers, 365. to 405.; and lighter, 30s. to 355. (equal to sd. to did. per. Ib.); large stores, 345. to 38s. Cd.; medium, 245. to 325.; small, lGs. to 225.; and weaners, 10s. to 14s.
