GREYTOWN DWELLING BURNT. (BY TBI2GBJLPH—FBES3 ASSOCIATION.) . ■ Carterton, Juno 16. • A fire last night destroyed a four-roomed cottage owned by Mrs. Stratford and occupied oy Mr. Baker, ait Woodside, Greytown. The throe 'occupants just escaped. Baker by climbing through a window when nis room was full of flames. Tbe insurance on tho cottage is unknown. Baker's furniture was insured for £75. Ho . estimates his loss at about £60. two omr FIRES. • Smoking in bed was supposed to be the cause of an outbreak of fire at 4.60 yesterday afternoon in a four-roomed dwelling, 15 Garrett Street, occupied by Mr. Wm. Sherman. A bed and bedding in a front room wero damaged by fire and smoke. , A gorso frro in Talavora Terrace occupied tho attention of the brigade at 10.42 o.m. yesterday. ' . .OUTBREAK.ON A STEAMER. . Early yesterday morning the Fire Brigade wore summoned to tie Arapawa, lying at tlio wharf; where some clothing in tho steward's eahin had caught fine. Tho Wazo was, however, extinguished before the brigade reached the wharf, and before any serious damage was done.
