N.-Brodrick, Commissioner, said that he should have perhaps ruled the motion out of .order, as it referred.to matters outBide the province- of the board altogether. The motion, however, had been' accepted oy his predecessor, and Mr. Lane had been disappointed in moving <it several times; so that to (the speaker) would, allow it to bo moved, ;■ end,would simply enter a protest against anj ' ■ reference being made, to anything tjiat was ; outside the business of tho board. " Mr. the motion pro forma to allow Mr, Wright to move an amendment ■'.-■. : Mr. Wright then moved as an amendment: * That the .Government bo congratulated upon . the purchase .of the Tongoio Estate." The , amendment' was seconded by Mr:-Ackroyd and carried/Mr. Lane alone dissenting.
