St. Paul's was practically the pioneer church of Hawko's Bay, tho first, minister boing tho Rov. Peter Barclay,.who arrived in Napier from Scotland on June 6, 18o§. A public mooting, held Inst evening in connection with tho jubilee, was addressed by ministers of all. denominations, representing, tho town and district. The speakers included Mr. R. D. D .MTjean, a son of Sir Donald M'Lcan, who ,was one of tbo founders of tho clmrcll, and the, Rev. Dr. Sidey, senior pastor of the congregation, and formorly clerk of the General Assombly.
