ANNIVERSARY SERVICES.
NEWTOWN CONGREGATIONAL. CHURCH. Special,services in connection with the anniversary of tho Newtown Congregational' Church were held yesterday. The morning service was presided.over by the Rev. ,T. Reed Glo6son (of tho Terrace Congregational' Church); in the afternoon a special children's service was held, the preacher being the Rev. Mr. Sims; tho evening service was conducted by the Rev. W. A. Evans (pastor of the church). All these services wore very largely attended, a feature of each being the choral work, under the leadership of Mr. Johnson, Mr. Hayes presiding at the organ. ;At the morning service, tho anthem, "Rock of Ages," was sung by the choir, and for the evening, the special choral work eon-' sisted of throe extracts from Gounod's "Messo Solennolle"—"Sanctus," "Gloria" and "Benedictus"—the soloists being' Kiss. G. Mason, and Messrs. Calloghan hud Anker. Tho annual meeting of the congregation is to be held on Wednesday evening.
