SOME INTERESTING DISCUSSION. , A conference of local preachers attached; to the Wesloyan Methodist and 'Primitive;' Methodist; Churches of-WeUington, Petono,>• ' aiid Lower Hutt, 1 was 'held in'the Petono ; Wesloyan Church yesterday', afternoon. About twenty preachers wore , present, i and ' Mr. E.' A. 'Dillon; (Chairman of- this 'Local, Preachers' Mutual Aid- Society,- Wellington branch) presided. ■ . „ » 1■! The object df; thff ' , gathermg : was tp con-; sider'the-position of tho local proachors of . the' distriot, many of whom fina'thatthoir . lsorvices..are riq'longor required,.! thw-o beipcti ' now bo ma.ny ' itiiiorant" 'ministers. ' „It,' TOi pointed out that , even: the,' Smallest gations. engaged ..paid ministers, and local.. preachers had not the opportunities for Borvice which were theirs until, recently. A . recommendation was mado that more attention should; be paid to; street' preaching in 'tho towns, where the lack of opportunity! was most keenly felt. . The chairman read a paper, on the necos-' sary.: qualifications of successful. local , preachers. : Discussion followed, and tho Hon. C. M., Luke, M.L.C., gave it as his ;. opinion that tho church would not live five years longer without 1 tho local preachers. There was only one ministry, and the lay : agency , was as vital a part as the paid , section. " Theweakness ' of' the Methodist. . Church was that it undervalued the worV of. the local preachers.. Thirty years the Methodist preachers 'were more vigoroui . than nqw, because they had more work to ; do. 'Unless the officials, would wako up. to ! tho need of tho church, there would soon ■ bo no local preachers. Mr. Jacohson; (of Petono) Epoko on "Tho Progress of Local l, /, Tho chairman suggested that local, prcaot ers might find avenues of valuable service in mission work. • ' MK L. 0. Stanton invited co-operation inthe rescue work- of the Helping Hand Mission, Wellington, of which lie was superintendent. He pointed out' that, if local preachers qualified, the. doors would bo opened to them. A public meeting was held in tho evening, ■ at which tho delegates were welcomed.. Th« Hon. C. M. Luke, presided, and the choir sang ,a number of anthems! > CONSTIPATION CONQUERED. ' BILE' BEANS END! MUCH SUFFERING. "If.-.l"'.wore asked to specify tho diseaso or ■ ailment, of. the day,. I should unhesitatingly answer—'Constipation.' " So Bays one of tho greatest medical writers of the present day. Where 'constipation exists,' the drains which Nature has provided', to clear:,; the of its impurities are out of order, and the impurities are left in,the tody. The v result is that every. organ of' tho. body is . rendered foul. The liver and digestive or-, , gans become clogged and unable to fulfil their •' proper functions, the appetite is destroyed, . !■: and tho head cither achos or: feels-dull; ana : ' heavy. So effective are Bile Beans for con- , stipation that in cases whoro this ailment has been so neglected that it has resulted m stop- .. page of tho . bowls,!, they have,' nevertheless,, brought about a complete cure. Mrs. , Jane Spriggs, of Great King Street, Dunedin, says; "Too much cannot.toe said of the benefits to bo derived from Bilo Beans for complaints arising -from constipation. About twelve, months ago'l suffered considerably with constipation and pains in the head. Tho agony I experienced at times was almost unendurable- I underwent a course: of Bile Beans, and they acted like magic, for they promptly cured the. constipation and dispelled my headaches.. I'also suffered with diabetes in tho mouth,'hut this also disapappeared with the other complaints. Indeed, I cannot speak too highly of Bile Beans, as ■ - they have mado a different woman, of mo. I nevor fail to recommend them to fellowsufferN's." . ' . . ,' • Bile Beans aro obtainable frqm all chemists and stores throughout New Zealand, at Is. lid- and 2s. 9d. per box. 4
