Coromandel granite will be iised for tHe whole of the ground iloor masonry, with Oamarh (tone above, and piles uf ferro-doncrete. Alternative proposals wero to have pile of iron bark, and uses the Oamaru stone for tho ground story,'where It is always liable to be hacked with ■ knives and ■ otherwise defaced by passum vandals. It is stated that the new uost office should bo a very handsome bnilding.
