DEATH OF STATE PREMIER
HON. | T.'PRICE. (bt association—cor-ißionr.) Adelaide, June 1. The Hon. Thos. Price, Stete Premier; who had been ill for many .months, died last night; aged '87. ~,'.... SYMPATHY AT 'SOMB. (Reo. June 1, 10.20 p.m.) . 1 London, June 1. Many sympathetic references ore made te the death of Mr. Prico (who Inst year visited Britain and delivered a number of addresses). A SELF-MADE MAN. The Hon. Thos. Price had been Leader of the Parliamentary Labour patty in South Australia since 1901, and Premier of that colony.since July, 1005. Mr. Price was formerly a stoneouttor. He was born in North Wales, worked there and At Liverpool, bud took a prominent part in political alfairs in that city. About 20 years ago his health broken down, and he emigrated, He tramped the streets of Adelaide in search of work, and ultimately, helped to build tho Parliament Souse, In which he was destined to sit, as Preinior. His earlier education was acquired at a penny School in Liverpool. Ho entered the South Australian Assembly in 1893, representing Stnrt till 1902, and Subsequently tha re-formed district of Tortens. He was a prominent Reohabite. ' He married the daughter of a Liverpool timber merchant,' and leaves four sons and three daughters. . The Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) cabled his condolences lost evening on the death of tho lato Mr. Price, '
