Tho homo of tile: new .club is, to bo in the,older part of' Mr. -Winder's building,-; at the corner of Cuba • Street and' Manners Street—:a.,.very good position, since -it. is on ,every tram-lino except; those'; to 'Brooklyn and' Aro Street,- and is so' close to both. tho Opera House and Town Hall. Various other advantages conucctcd with the position ;bino to make it an almost ideal placo for-.the initiation of a club. . Ball at Toltomaru. A Very enjoyable ball, given by the ladies of Tokoinaru,; was held _in the Public Town Hall last Friday evening, the hall boing packed to its utmost with visitors' from Palmerston, Shannon, Oroua Bridge,' Woodville, and .Linton.. The .ballroom looked; exceeding nice,. beings decorated. with ;.ferns, evergreens, '' and'. Chinese lanterns. > There colours'. blended well with tho. pretty, dresses worn ■by the ladies.
