THE BIG REVERS.
The surrounding treatment of the laco yoko, front, or "guimpe," which is tho inevitable finish of gowns of all kinds, is a marked feature in these days, when trimming is but scantily used. Our summer gowns had in most casos either a square or liorseshoe yoko elfcct, carried out in laco or tucked net, which looked smart and pretty. The incoming season is, however, bringing quite a now t touch, which is worth noticing. This consists of largo rovers, / which turn hack from tho laco front with a decidedly becoming' result. This means a • V-shaped opening ovor tho guimpo or vest, bringing a complete change to tho wider expanse of the summer, gown, although all this can be arranged, if preferred, by the addition of a little inner vest placed so as to extend tho opening. In all tho newest toilettes the big revere are quito a distinctive feature, and they are particularly effec•tive on a long out-door coat cut on directoire lines. Tho points are not placed across tho shoulders, as that would destroy the flat shoulder effect, but they almost reach to under the arm, and so give a Blightly short-waisted appearance, which is very picturesquq, and suitable to medium figures. Tho vogue of these revers introduces new opportunities for'the use of handsomo embroideries, but careful manipulation is necessary, for while a'blended' Result is always, a hard, uncompromising blot of :i c6lour looks crude, and makes a' docided which is not desirable in these days, "i
