THE DOMINION SCOUTS.
V4'o lift MDiiioi.) Sir,—lf Captain Gardiner docs not care to face the music himself, ho-might have selected a better apologist than Mr, H. Williamson. Mr. Williamsqn may .draw as fully as he pleases, as, to his own imagination, but he has neither*lotter nor authority to speak inthe namo of the men. I'also have been present at the , meetings, and ;dony ahsojutoly that tho-mon werp set quarrelling as alleged, Mr. Williamson asks what ll]\ Dalry|iiplo has done for the corp3. He should hayo obtained tho' information he asks , for before writing, , and i ho would found that it was greatly through Mr, Balrymple tliat tho Scouts were accepted by tho Govoniment. Captain Gardiner's apologist admits that Mr. Dalryinplo voiced his intention of being in Wellington. on April 12, and surely the meeting called by" Captain Gardiner cnpld havo been: put off for another fow days. Mr. Williamson is entitled to his own opinion jegarding tho qualifications niost_ desirable as an oft"\c'or, but ho must poimit oth'orii to hold thpir own opinions also. It is to bfi hoped that Captain Gardiner will attend, the meeting toriiight, when he wjH have an opportunity of explaining and iustifyinj; his position.—l am, otc, ONE UNTERESykp,
