—■' « —: STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION. 'A large number of students attended the 1 annual meeting of tho Victoria College Students' Association last night. Mr. H. F. O'Leary presided. Tho annual report recorded an increase in , membership from 205 to 305. 'i Thanks are expressed to the Glee Club for the assistance rendered by it at various highly successful college functions, and .congratulations are extended to the Ladies' Hockey .Club on winning tho Wellington ladies' senior and junior championships, and the Debating Society, whoso representatives were successful at the Easter tournament, and at dobating societies" union tournament. The .prosperity enjoyed by othor 'college clubs is noted with pleasure. The canvass for funds for tho gymnasium has gone on steadily, but a small sum' is still required to complete the building free of debt. Great success < attended tho third annual ball, bnt ft resulted in a financial loss, and a recommendation is made that the subscription for, outsiders be increased. At the close.of last' session a. sub-committeo was 'set up to provide information to new students regarding board accommodation, the college courses, and social life. Con-' Biderable trouble was taken in carrying out this work, but there was not a great demand for information. Among those to •whom thanks are expressed are Mr. H. F. von Haast, for acting as judge of the capping songs; Mr. J. P, Firth, for the use of tho Wellington College grounds for training .purposes; 'tho collego janitor, Mr. Brook; the' Professorial Board, for financial assistance, and those who kindly acted as hosts, to the visiting Easter, tournament representatives. The balance-sheet shows that receipts for the year amounted to £127 10s. lOd. (subeenptious £38 2s 6d., credit balance capping carnival £53 2s. 2d.), and expenditure to £69 Bs.~ lOdi, thus leaving a credit "bal- ■' attao of £58 2s. The largest items in the latter are: Debit balance from the annual ball £22 6s. 2d., and printing £9 10s. 6d. The financial affairs of the "Collego Magazine" show a debit.balanpo of £4 lis. lOd. In connection with the gymnasium fund, tho amount recoivod totals £1373 16s. 4d., and the expenditure £596 9s. 6d. There is thus a credit balance of £777 6s. lOd. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. .'' On the motion of Mr. Inder, seconded by _ Mr. D. S. Smith, it was resolved that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that steps be taken to secure a telephone Cor the use of students, A motion expressing hearty appreciation of the way in which Mr. G. Dixon had worked during the Easter .tournament was carried by acclamations The following officers wore elected:—Pation, Professor Kirk; president, Mr. F. A Wilson; vice-presidents, Miss L. M'lntosh, and Air. J. F. Thompson; hon. secretary, Mr. T. M. fiolmden; hon. treasurers. Miss B. Reeve, and Mr. L. Short; ' committee, Misses Sampson, Barkas, E. Fell, Messrs 'AH. Bogle, J. M. Hogben, E. Lyon, and Duncan; hon. auditor, Mr. G. Reid; representatives on Easter Tournament Committee, Messrs. J. M. Hogben, and D S Smith. , Trophies wero present xl as follows to the successful Wellington representatives at tho Easter tournament: Ladies' ionnis championship, Mis 3 Keevo; 3-mile, T. RW120yds and -140 yds., A. H. Bogle: debatmg competition, D. S. Smith, and G. H. Gibb. - A, vote of thanks was accorded tho outgoing committee. i
