' [In connection with the railway catastrophe at Br'aybrook (Sunshine) in April ; last, whra 43 people were killed and 191 were injured, the Department Board of Inquiry found Milburn (driver of the Bendigo train, which crashed ink the ill-fated Ballarat train) gnilty 1 on each oi five charges. Driver Dolmai;, Firemen Tomlinson. and Debeny, and Guard D'Arc.v were found not guilty.. Tho etationmaster Kendall was. found guilty, with a recommendation tc mercy. Tho Board dismissed bith Milburn and Kendall, who appealed to the tribunal, whose decision is cabled above.' At the inquest Keiidall, the Braybrook stationmaater,: gave evidence that he intended.to give tho signal tc come to the distance to Bendipe ..train, but, according to the entry in , his!, book, he pave 'Hine clear" 1 to Sydenham. The mistake ho made was. in not-keeping the Ballarat train nt the home signal .when he riivo the lino clear but he was under the- impression that he hac given the signal to the Bendigo train to come to the distance. He had been working for-ten hours on the dav of the accident, but that wni nothing unusual. He had to look after bqtli tho signals and tho platform.] '
