'. (BX TELEGEArn—SPECIAF. CORRESPONDENT.) Hastings, April 27. At.tho henring of a serious chargo against a music teacher at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, the prosecution called on t-ho Rev. Mr. Hobbs, an Anglican clergyman, to.give evidence against accused. ■Mγ. Hobbs pleadod privilege on tho ground that ho received vho confidence of accused in Ijis spiritual capacity, and under the'seal of confession. Tho prosecution contended- that tho rev, gentleman had already communicated the subject matter of his evidence to other persons,: viz., tho parents of two boys concerned in the case. His Worship liold that tho Act exempted a minister of religion from giving evidence ■under■'■the circumstances, notwithstanding that ho had spoken to tho parents on tlio Bubjcot of .accused's confidence, and further, more ho declined to allow a letter from Mr. Hobbs, found on accused, to bo put, in as evidence. ' ' . '
