Mr. M. J. Reardon, one of the Laboui candidates for the City Council, addressed the electors at' the Hon. J. Rigg's, meeting at Sydney Street last night. He said that tho Labour:men were in favour of extending the diaihago. system to the suburbs, but did not propose, as other candidates, to do so out of revenue. They proposed instead to again suVmit the recently-rejected loan proposals with some minor, modifications. The candidate spoke of the foolishness of the ratepayers in rejecting the loan proposals, which would have resulted in an increase of revenue;, Mr. Reardon also urged the desirability "of securing furthoi recreation grounds and obtaining control of the gas supply of the city.
