MR. FOWLDS AND MR.-MASSEY.

The Hon. G. Fowlds and Mr. Massoy have been disputing in print as to -who was responsible foe, the action of the Government a few, years ago in withdrawing certain Kawhia lands from selection on the optional system and ■ offering them on lease-in-perpetuity only. According to a Press Association telegram from Auckland, which we published yesterday, . Mr. - Massey's 'ast remark was a suggestion "that Mr. Fowlds should follow the oxample of his colleague, Mr. Hogg, and accept his share of the responsibility for what took place." . Tho reply of Mr. Fowlds, 'as given to a Dominion reporter yesterday, was brief. "I am quite prepared," be' said, "to accept responsibility for anything I have done, but I am not;prepared to accept responsibility in connection with the incorrect allegations of Mr. Massoy."-. ;
