RAILWAY MANAGEMENT.
COMPLAINTS FROM AUCKLAND. (BT TELEGUAPH SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) - Auckland, April 20. Tho management of tie railways is more or less always under the lash of public criticism. Two complaints appear in to-day's papers. In one .instance) a correspondent writes:—"A truck load of goods , was. dispatched from near Auckland on Wednesday, April 14, and on tho fourth day was expected to arrive at Botorua. Of course, you might argue that it is not profitable to keep truck idling for four days on a oneday's journey, but some people are never pleased. P.S.—Five' days 1 The' truck, has not yet aw-ived." In' the second case it is stated that while.the herding sof human beings in cattle' tracks on race days Calls forth maledictions on such occasions, the treatment meted-out to Oneliumga people is also a' just cause of complaint. Not-only do Onelnwga passengers have to;'take their chances in the ' cattle trucks, but they are called upon to put in long and weary waits on the racecourse platform. Then, again, there is another'change, and sometimes a tedious delay at Penrose foforo'the waried-out gens finally serfc out for Onelninga. At the meeting of the borough council last night, a strongly worded letter of complaint was read from a.lady } :who protested against iTavwg had to ride in a cattle-truck after the railway authorities had taken money from her for a first-class ticket. The Mayor and several of the councillors agreed with' the writer; the formeT stating that seemingly any kind of treatment was considered good enough"' for Onehunga on race.days. It was deoided to refer the matter to the Minister for Railways, with a view to getting tho oon-di-bipns,;remedied.in:the future...
