BOWLS.
At,a meeting of the Wellington .Bowling Centre, held in the Commercial Travellers' Club, last evening, it was decided in regard to calling a general meeting to discuss the North-; em Bowling Association's tournament rules, that the matter did not come under the jurisdiction of the centre, and that any. proposal of the kind would have to come, from the ;vlers'themselves. It is understood i that steps will be taken to call such a meeting. The. point at issue is, the rule regarding the entrance o£ teams for. the N.BX annual tournament. At' present each club is restricted in its representation at tournaments to two* rinks (eight players), and the , opinion is held' by many, local bowlers that ; N.B.A. tournaments would be more successful if there were no restriction in this regard—that a club should be allowed to enter as many rinks as offer, as is : tho'case under the rules •of the New, Zealand Association (the body which controls bowls in the Soiith Island). The majority of those Wellington players-who have participated in southern tournaments are convinced that there'is much in favour of the "open-door'' policy:in.that it debars no one from. tournament plajy-whereas every member of a club (barring two'rinks) is deprived ; of that;privilege and pleasure under the present rule. As there is certainly a welldefined feeling in favour of the "open-door" policy, it might obviate a serious: split among the bowlers of. Wellington (where' the next tournament is to be . played) if the. N.B.A.', in its wisdom, would give it a trihl on the first opportunity., It : is calculated that there are ample greens • in. Wellington to accommodate all the rinks-that would be likely to enter. . ' ; JUNIOR PENNANTS... , The following : is the position of the Junior.
