ENTERTAINMENTS.

"THE MERRY WIDOW." ■ "The Merry Widow" only dropped into Wellington for a few. nights, but. she -has been-made so enthusiastically welcome that her visit , has been extended, and she will be "at home" in the Opera House until Friday evening next. The management has decided on this second extension of the season owing to the phenomenally heavy business that has been done and the healthy state of the box plans of the next few nights. Tho house was again quit© full last evening, and the delightful opera went with a vim and sparkle from ."ring up" to "ourtain." Miss Florence Young, as Sonia, gives a better performance now than on the opening night, having become more at home in the part as the season advanced,, and whilst her inherent buoyancy has gained by experience, she gives the serious . interludes a deeper '.and more sympathetic significance. The work of lVliss Wilson, and Messrs. Victor Gouriet, Andrew Higginson, W. S.' Percy, and Reginald Roberts reaches a high standard of excellence, contributing factors to one of the brightest performances of light opera that has been seen in Wellington. There is to be a matinee to-morrow,afternoon. - THE) ROYAL PICTURES. A-fine series of pictures are being shown at His Majesty's Theatre during the present week, these including two of the best mihtary pictures that have been seen in .Wellington.' 1 . A complete change of programme is promised for to-morrow evening. "LURED TO LONDON.". •The Edwin Geach Dramatic Company was seen in the drama "Lured to London" last evening at the Theatre Royal.' The principals work devolves upon Miss Buckley and Messrs. Robert Ininan, Albert Lucas, Kenneth Hunter, and J. P. O.'Noill, all capable performers in the field of melodramatic endeavour. ' Tho play is well mounted, and the scenery is adequate.
