__At the .annual' meeting.'of the -Anglicai Uiurch ■ ■ at■.. Eastbourne on Wednesday evenirn ,th«' following reports for .the year. W adapted:— ;■ ■■■'■'.[■■ " ■ , : . General Report-Mr. U. L. , Button was an pointed chairman of. committee, and lie, wit] he secretary (Mr J D.Avery), were appointei trustees of. the funds. Mr. TV,. H. Didsbur •yas added to the committee during the rear Needless to' say, much attention was: given ti the building fund. Tho church site purchase! from Mr. Stubbs is one that, should meet al futoe requirements. The committee' has hai the .debentures at £S,. £W, and printed but-so far they havo not been'actively issued :the. committee believing that further effort tc secure, donations, is, first desirable. InDeciim ,ber last,, owing ,to .the Presbyterian Churcli ; being no longer, available at the usual hout .for services, a chango was made by removal to the btate school. This.hes'proved eminently satisfactory as far as it goes. Both morning and evening services havo been held regularly and-there has been & marked improvement in the of the congregation. The taking ,ot the school necessitated expenditure for chairs so as to provide proper seating accommodation. The. School Committee has granted . the use of the buijding free of charge, for which consideration it deserves hearty thauke. Building Fund Eeport.—During, the past 12 ■months the committee endeavoured to. bring about the building of a church, so muoh desired in Eastbourne. Though very gratifying results'were obtained, it was'found that tho building fund was not in. a sufficiently , good position to warrant the letting of a contract. At one time it was thought that financial arraiigments could be made to enable the work to' proceed, and , tenders were called for tho erection of a church according.to plans and specifications prepared by Mr. J?. . de ,T. Clere. :However the committee was disappointed in its'financial negotiations, ahd : it'was deemed .advisable to postpone tho building, until such time as the position of tho fund would enable the 1 work to do undertaken in more favourable ■financial.oircumstances and without leaving a heavy liability.' At present the committee is of opinion that a contract should not be lot until a further sum of . has been guaranteed." As will bo seen from the bajance-sheet the total assets amount'to i>Bl7 but of this at present only ,£202 is' available to meet the liability of .£IOO on tho land. To tho present liability, of course,. will. have to bo adddd the cost of the church, building when a contract is let, and this cost will be 'approximately ,£7OO, thereby making the total liabilities .£llOO, against which cash in hand and ;unrealised assets provide .£397 (including Dr MacKenzie's gift). • : . ■ .' . The above reports were adopted. " ■ .The following officers were eleoted , for the ensuing_;year:-Comniitfeß, Messrs. Button. Baker, Didsbury.. Kells, Russell, H. W; Shortt, W. F. Shortt; secretary, Mr, J. B Avery
