The council declined to comply with the request.-) ' 3 Committee recommended that the Waiwetu Cricket Club be allowed to lay down (under the supervision of the engineer) a Draff tico pitch on the Recreation Ground, to the east of the,pavilion. This'was agreed to. i, Committee report that the fire hydrants hdvo been tested, and recommended v council have the overhanging trees cut back where they cover the fire plates along the fences, And that the incoming council be recommended.: to make provision for boxes and equipment at: three places, mentioned. The recommendations were agreed to. The engineer reported that the .concreting work to the eastern septic tanks is well in hand. The sewage drainage on the western side is progressing as favourably as can be expected considering the amount of subsoil wate. to be dealt with. <117 house connections have been' made with th«; water mains to date. Two new gas connections have been made during the past fortnight.' The erection of lamp at junction of Gamp. Road and Brunswick Street and the lighting of Melling Bridge is now completed.—Adopted.
