Hockey enthusiasts ,arc practising assiduously in preparation for tho season. Tho first matches of tho championships should commence at an early date. Tho JCarori Club expects to put a good team in tho senior contest, which promises to bo very interesting. Atkin and Elias have been promoted from junior to senior, and other changes in tho personnel of tho team are contemplated.

Tho Hui Mai Hockey Club sent a team to Otaki on Easter Monday to play a match with tho Otaki Club. Tho Hui Mai team proved victorious by G goals to 3 after a well-contested and fast game. Tho Otaki Club entertained the visitors at lunch after tho match. In tho afternoon tho Hui Mai team visited tho Otaki Sanatorium, and entertained tho patients with musical items. Miss Pickering presided at tho piano, and tho following contributed items: Mr. Duncan, violin solo; and songs by Messrs. Kuch, Mearns, Duncan, Snolling, and several others. ' Tho Wellington Hockey Referees' Association aro holding an extraordinary general meeting on Tuesday next. All hockey clubs aro requested to send delegates (as many as they like), as this mooting is convened for tho purpose of discussing this season's rules. Moro referees aro wanted.
