\ TROUBLE AT CHRISTCHURCH. (BY TELEGKAFII—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, April 13i Intense indignation is folt in volunteering circles relative- to tlie buhglo which occurred in connection with tho transport of troops to and from Mount Somcrs, whero' tho Easter manoeuvres were,held, and Lieut.-Colonel Smith, M.L.C., in command of the Infantry Battalion, lias sent tho following telegrams to the Government:— "Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, Wellington. ' "Treatment • troops' ■at the Easter manoeuvres by tho rail officials hero was disgraceful. In the interests of the defence forco I have wired to tho Min- ' ister for Railways asking for an inquiry, and trust you will support tho application as Minister for. Defence." "Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Sail- \ ways, Wellington.
"Tho treatment of tho troops at tho Easter manoeuvres by tho rail officials here was disgraceful. My complaint refers to tho traffic manager, statioumaster, and chief traffic clerk. In the interests of tho defence forco I ask for an inquiry as to the management of tho traffic and the discourtesy of these officials. I am wiring to the Prime Minister, as Minister for Defence, on tho matter."
