A meeting of tho New Zealand Educational Institute executive body was held in tho Education Board Buildings, on Saturday, when there were present: Messrs. G. M T . C. Macclonald (president), Dunedin) j Thomas Hughes B.A. (trenstircr), Cliristchiirch; Wm. Davidson (Diinedin); G W. Murray (Auclc land); Junes Ailknn, B.A. (Wanjraiiui); Vr co .- f« c }}°™n (Wellington); John Cuughey, JV,y'\..W<>l]ington); and William Foster, U.K. (Wellington), secretary. Mr. J. H. It was reported that the Legal Defence Fund or the lnstitulo is now approaching _£10U1, winch amount, the institute.considers should be sufficient to .ucet the expenditure on leg'il matters in normal years. A wb-cominittce, consisting of Messrs. Hughes. ifacMorran, and •oster (assoeinting with them ilr. Erskino of Wellington) wns set up to consider matters connected with the finances of tho institute and deal with tho investment of the funds Another sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Macdoimld, Davidson, Hughes, ;i.ac.Worrni\ Uuighey, and Foster, was set up to co ider details connected with the establishment and ninintciinnco of a sick benefit fund. The committee will report to the executive, and prepare a remit on the .subject for submission to the next annual meeting of the institute, tt-hick will take place in Wellington.
