CARTERTON.
On Sunday the members of the Petone Footba 1 Club, who played a friendly game with the Hovers, were taken for a drive through the South Wairarapa, and greatly appreciated tho thoughtfulness of tho home crab. , Tho morning service in tho Methodist Church on Sunday was conducted by tho Rov. It. W. Poole, being of a special character on account of Easter. The Rev. W. J. JUhott preached in the evening, the congregations on both occasions being good. Among former residents of Carterton who were spending Easter here, I noticed .Messrs Geo.. Andrews (of Christehurch) and Clias Dounard (Pahiatua). Through a large _ number of members boita unnblo to obtain the necessary leave tho Carterton lliflo Volunteers woro not fully represented at tho Easter manoeuvres at Oringi. Easter decorations adorned the walls of St. Mark's Church on Sunday, when the services were of an impressive character bearing on Eastertide. Tim pulpit was occupied by the vicar (Rev. R.. Young), and considcriiif; the weather, the congregations woro good. The choir, who have been practising a good deal of late, under the conductorsliip of Mr. J J. Mead, did their part verv effectively.
