SALVAGE RISKS. ' (iir TiLEuitAi-ii—l-itKs.i association—coriiuanT.) (Rcc. April 12, 10.5 p.m.) ,- London, April 12. Tho steel twin-screw steamer Mapratta, 5730 tons gross, owned by T. and J. Brocklebank, Ltd., grounded on the Goodwin Sands. Lifeboats took off the passengers. While boatmen were salving tho cargo of rubber, tea, and rice, the vessel broke her back. The salvage crew were rescued with difficulty. ' The engineers worked to their waists in water until the danger of an explosion in the engine-room was passed. Tho vessel and her cargo were valued at £200,1)00 sterling.
