FIRE AT KARORI.

A five-roomed dwellinghouso, situated in Standen Street, Karori, at the back of the cemetery, was totally destroyed at about 9.30 last night, during tho height of tho northerly gale. • The house, which was occupied by Mr. Arthur Mnhood. was owned by iUr. F. Brattle, who had it insured for £400 in tho Yorkshire Office. Tho occupant of tho houso and his family had been in town since Saturday, leaving tho houso unoccupied, so that tho cause of tho outbreak is unknown. The firo brigade turned out, hut the heavy gain had driven tho flames right through the building before they arrived. Luckily, the house was fully detached, otherwise the damago must have been far more serious.
