NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.
BUTTER AND CHEESE ENTRIES. A Palmerston Press Association telegram states that tho following entries havo oeen received for the butter and cheese classes at tho National Dairy Show in June , .—Export butter class, 40; factories, novioe class, 14; factories, novice exhibitors, 11; export bulk class, 27. Butter Championship.—Cambridge, Kairangi, Mangatoki, Moa, Rangitikei, Thames Valley. - - Export Cheese.—Coloured, 25; wliite, 23; factory cheoso, 20. Cheese Championship.—Cardiff, Kaponga, Uongokakako, Omimi, Taratahi, Waikouaiti, Whakorongi. The butter and choose championships will bo very open, neither of last year's champion factories having entered. Last year there were 169 entries in those classes; this year there are 189 from 41 butter and 31 cheese factories. The committee of the Hastings branch of the Farmers' Union mot on Saturday night, tho chairman (Mr. Ambrose Wellwood) prosiding (writes our Hastings correspondent). Tho business was to consider the question of forwarding an exhibit to the Palmerston Juno Show similar to tho district exhibit shown by tho Hastings Union at the recent autumn show.' The chairman pointed out that bo had written to Palmerston for a programme, and found that there was no provision mado for exhibits of this kind, and it was therefore decided to abandon the project for the present. It was, however, resolved to write to the Palmerston executive calling attention to the great amount of good which must accruo from competitive exhibits of tho products of the various agricultural centres, and asking them seriously to consider tho advisability of adding this section to their next year's programme.
