During the year the lion, treasurer received the sum of ,£U Bs. 6d., and disbursed tho siun of £li Is. Gd., the term ending with a credit balance of 13s. 3d. During the year 13 matches were arranged by tho association, between the various affiliated clubs. A match between the Wednesday and Saturday representatives was played at Day's Bay early in August. Afte.r a hard-fought game, the latter won by 11 goals to G. The Pakeha A's, having scored the largest number of points, were again awarded the silver challenge cup presented by Mr. G. T. White, jeweller, Lambton Quay. ' Considerable difficult was again experienced in securing the services of competent referees. During tho season various protests wero lodged, and several inquiries had to be held by tho association dealing with tho decisions of, somo of the referees. This is a matter that should be taken up by tho affiliated clubs, and not left to the association. Tho various clubs have seemed content to rest on their oars, and quietly accept what small benefits have been, granted by the association to fill the breach It is now felt that the time has arrived when a general referees' association should be formed, by this means tho general interests of sport will bo conserved.
