Two first offenders, charged with insobriety, wero convicted and fined ss. each, with an alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment. Caroline Smydth, who was found in a state of intoxication in Little Taranaki 9 Street, and had been' previously convicted, was fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. John Wm. Rickman, convicted of a similar misdemeanour, in Fitzherbert 3 Terrace, was also fined 10s., with the visual , alternative., A fine of 205., in default 7 days' imprisonment, was imposed on John Chambers, who had been twicb previously convicted of drunkenness within the last six months. '_ For committing an indecent act at To Aro Railway Station, Harry Evans,' who pleaded guilty and elected to bo dealt with i summarily, was convicted and fined £3, in ; default 14 days' imprisonment. CIVIL BUSINESS. (Bcforo Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M.) [ Further evidence was heard in tho case ; Chas. Aubrey, land agent, Lower Hutt (Mr. ' Dunn), v. Alfred Mitchell, fanner, Whiteniau Valley (Mr. Blair). This was a claim i for tho sum of £1.')1 4s. 4d., representing ' commission, at" tho rate of 1\ per cent, on l tho selling price of a farm of 807} acres. His Worship reserved his decision.
