Dr. Fullarton, while driving -in a motorcar along Bluff Road; this afternoon, collided with a woman and child, who' were standing in' the"' roadway talking to the' driver of a dray which was stationary on the road.. The doctor stopped the'car very soon after passing and picked up the woman and child. The woman was startled, but practically unhurt, but the child (Ellen Mary Sotilos), aged five, seemed hurt and screamed loudly. The doctor carricd her into a house and attended to her,- finding no 'signs of serious injuries. In a little while the child collapsed, and Dr. Fullarton took her in the motor to the hospital, where' all possible was done for her, but ■ animation was not restored. •
, INJURED AT THE WHARF. A married man named William Leonard Curtis, clerk, residing at 35 Abel Smith Street, and employed in temporary capacity on tho wharf, was admitted to tho Welling(ton 1 Hospital last, ;evdiing, suffering .frpm a' broken thigh. Curtis was assisting in the loading of frozen mutton, when one of the carcasses fell from the sling, and struck him on the leg... He is progressing favourably.
