INSTRUCTION IN WOOL-CLASSING.
CONFERENCE AT MASTERTON. An interesting conference, in connection with tho proposed wool-classing instruction took place at Masterton yesterday afternoon, between, a special committee of tho A. and P. Association and tho managers of tho Masterton Technical School. There were present :—Messrs. W. Porry (chairman), G. C. Summerell, E. Harper, and G. R. Sykcs, representing the A. and P. Association. Tho Technical > School managers at tho conference were:—Messrs. E. Feist, W. H. Jackson, E. H. Waddington, Rev. Dean M'Konna, and N. D. Bunting. •■ '■ Mr. Jackson explained that tho object of waiting mi the association was principally for obtaining financial assistance. 'Members of the association would recognise the benefits which tho farming coniriuinity would derive from the establishment of wool classes. Tho managers of tho Technical School proposed making por'piipil per'-quarter, and tho amount which they hoped to obtain through tho assistance of tho A. and P. Association was £25, which, with Govern-' ment subsidy, would give the amount noce*sary to equip tho classes. The managers had in view a competent wool-classor from the South Island, whom they hoped to appoint shortly. Mr. Perry said that the association members recognised tho value of such classes, and would probably subscribo the amount required, in addition to canvassing for pupils. Mr. Jackson stated that the difficulty of obtaining pupils would not bo great after the appointment of an instructor. Mr. Harper said that ho would supply forty or fifty fleeces, and tho chairman added that ho did not expect any difficulty in securing an occasional balo for the classes, although tho bulk of tho season's wool was already shipped, < In conclusion the chairman stated that ho would lay the matter before the next meeting of tho General Committee of the Association,
