Although the number of immigrants visiting tho Departmental offices has been less than was tho caso last year, a real dearth of legitimate land investors has yet to be experienced if the present apparent readiness of private funds for tho purposo may bo taken as a criterion. Newcomers, as a rule, evince a desire to take up small areas, until improved acquaintance with New Zealand life and methods justifies the working of larger areas.
