A RECORD BROKEN.
The cycle record, Wellington to Palmerston North, was broken by Mr. F. Birtles yeswrtlay. Mr. Birtles started from Tuk Dominion office at 8.30 a.m., and reached Palmerston at 2.45 p.m., the journey thus occupying 6J ho-urs, fifteen minutes less than tho previous record for tho distance. On arrival at Palmerston, Mr. Birtles telegraphed to Tuk Dominion saying that he reached Levin at 12.30. From Levin ho went on to Palmerston, encountering strong northeast winds on tho way, but managing to reach his destination at 2.45.
