A Mafia gang at Palermo, Sicily, in broad daylight and in a public square, assassinated an American detective named Pctrosini, who was making investigations in connection with tho "Black Hand" organisation, Pctrosini defended himself with a revolver. He received many wounds. It is said that ho did more than any man in the United States to bring Italian criminals to justice. A VILLAINOUS RECORD. (Rec. March 15, 11.35 p.m.) Now York, March 15. Tho murder of the detective Pctrosini has caused a sensation in New York, whero 23 "Black Hand" outrages took placo in 1903, including bomb-throwing, arson, and assassination. • Apparently, a group of blackmailers aro using the sign of tho "Black Hand," and their activities are not political in origin or aim.
