LICENSING REFORM.
A SUNDAY-CLOSING MEASURE. (bxtelegraph— peess association—corraioHT.) London, March 14. Tbo Sale of Intoxicating Liquors on Sunday (England) Bill, introduced by Mr. J Brigg, Liberal member for the Keighley Division of Yorkshire, was read a second time in tho Houso of Commons by 2-14 votes to 59.
Mr. Asquith announced his intention at a later stago to bring tho measure into harmony with the machinery of last year's Licensing Bill.
The Bill o£ last year proposed that tho licensed premises should be closed during the whole of Sunday in England (excluding MoTmoutlish.re, and outside London) except L one hour between noon and 3 p.m., and for two hours between C p.m. tuid 10 p.m., the deft™) 0 hv°?h« rr e - . llc ®P si »E district to be hxed by the licensing justices. When the Bill was in committee the Sunday-elosing clause was extended to London. ™
