A PRACTICAL JOKE.
SERIOUS RESULTS. [BT Tri.nGunrn.-srucur. cniiiiKsros-nENT.I Napier, March 15. Mr. Frank O'Shannessoy, well known in local musical circles, was tlio victim of .n very serious practical joko oil Saturday night. Ho was spending tho evening at tlio liouso of Mr. J. Reilly, and after rendering a song, was asked by a young lady from Danlievirko. who was visiting tho house, if ho would' liko a glass of hop lieer. Mr; O'Shannessoy agreed to tho suggestion, and tho girl handed him a cup containing what looked in tho somi-darkness liko . beer. He swallowed most of tho contents, and said ho was poisoned. Tho girl ropliod that it was, sheep-dip which slio used for her hair. Tlio victim of tho joko immediately cycled to Dr. T. C. 'Moore's, whero bo collapsed on arriving. Dr. Edgar was also called in, and prompt measures wore taken. Mr. O'Shannessoy improved slightly yesterday, but bib condition to-day was such as to cause his friends somo anxiety. Tho girl states that sho administered tho dip as a joke, not for a moment considering it would have such serious results.
