Captain Harold Williams, of the Dorset Regiment, who recently arrived in Now Zealand from England on furlough, has (says a Napier l'ress Association telegram) received cabled advice that ho has been appointed assistant-adjutant-gencral 011 tho headquarters staff in South Africa. Tho Hon. W. W. M'Cardlc, M.L.C., who was a.prominent member of tho Brooklyn Ratepayers' Association, lias been requisitioned to become a candidate for a seat on the Wellington City Council.
