RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION. At a meeting of Cabinet yesterday the following items of expenditure on railway construction were authorised — Hokitika-Eoss, £1500. Catlins-Waimahaka, £1100. Kaivakawa-Grahainstown, £1850 Helensvillc, northwards, £2000 Gisbonie-Kotonia, £830. Sentry Hill Deviation, £250. Belgrove-Westport, £350. Ngahcre-Blackball, £8000. Lawrence-Roxburgh, £500. Blenheim : Waipara, £1000. Other amounts authorised were as follow :— Roads and bridges, £9400. Telegraph supplies, £3900. Huts for railway men, £520 n£ iti[ r&\v nd t f "™ turo for Public Trust Offico (Wellington), £718. Railway supplies, £4500. Stationmaster's house at Ngapara, £31C Railway sleepers, £2800. Purchase of site for mental hospital at Hokitika,' £250. Orders for stationery required by the Government Printer, £4900.
