MR. DRUMMONO'S RETIREMENT.
Mr.' DrummonS, tho Port Inspector of Stock, who for many years past has been associated with the importation of valuable live stock from abroad, and with their care on Quarantine Island, is among those who arc to l)o retired under the age-rule, Ho will be remembered long after he leaves the service as ono of the most obliging and industrious officers whom farmers have had to meet. Mr. Drummond retires with special advantages, which, however, present in themselves a troublesome dilomma. Having been in tho sorvico before tho Provincial Councils wore abolished, lie has the right to choose between a substantial allowance" in a lump sum or an annuity from tho superannuation fund. If. anybody can tell Mr. Drummond, exactly and reliably, how lons be is going to live, they will greatly assist him to solve tho knotty problem. One hope* that it will bo for very many years. ■
