GOVERNMENT VALUATIONS.

« LARGE ADVANCES IN REMUERA. • (Bi XELEOUArn—FEKS3 ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, March 9. Complaints arc made by several owners of property at Remucra of the great advances in the Government valuations which have just been made. The most striking instance is that of a property which at the last valuation was assessed, at £1900, but which this year has been increased to £4700. Of this increase £200 has been added to the house, but the rest is on the five and a half acres of land that surround it. Another residency and nine acres, previously valued at £5500, has been increased to £7440. A £4000 place has been increased by £1000, a £3000 home has gone up to £4500, £2300 has. been advanced to £4375, and, in fact, all the big residences show a marked increase. 'Nor is this increase confined to houses surrounded by largo areas of land. One. property witli only an aero of land, valued at last valuation at £3100, has now gone up to £4680. Small properties on small allotments show a similar proportionate increase. It is likely that thero wiJ be a protest from' pro-perty-owners in the district who feel themselves aggrieved, and a number of the valuations will come before the Assessment Court for adjustment. , Several [are having their land independently valued for this purpose. .
