" The Minister for Railways, accompanied by Messrs., Ronayno and Whitcombe and local mombors of Parliament, inspected the Fairlie branch line this morning. Tho Minister granted a request for a faster passenger train service between Timaru and Fairlie on Saturdays, stating • that returns showed this branch to be financially sound. The train will commence running on Saturday nest, and bo given two months' trial. T)ie, Minister caught the first express north and goes on to 'Wellington this evening ta attend a meeting of - Cabinet ■ to-morrow.
