BOXING ASSOCIATION.
The committee of tho Wellington Boxing Association met Inst night, Mr. E. W. M'Villey occupying the chair. ' The date of the usual meeting of the association was fixed for April 5. It was decided to suggest to the New Zealand Council that the reinstatement fee should bo refunded to those applicants who were readmitted as amateurs. , Tho committee were unanimously of opinion that it could not recommend to the New Zealand Council that J. Lane, or Wellington, bo reinstated as an amateur. It was agreed .that the New Zealand Council bo advised that, in the opinion of tho committee, any of the members of the various associations were eligible for the office of president of the governing body. A recommendation was ordered to be sent to the Now Zealand Council that the committee thought it desirable that tho various associations should endeavour to get boxing taught in the public schools. The committee resolved to inform the New Zealand Council that it was not in favour of any alteration of the rule which allows associations to fix tho amount of the purses which it give 3 in connection with professional contests. Members did not view with favour a proposal (which will come before the annual meeting of the New Zealand Council) to abolish local governing centres, and to place local associations in direct communication with the council, and directly under tho control of tho council. Tho committee considered that local centres were essential to the good government of the sport. .It.was suggested that Mr. MTilley should bo nominated for the position of president of the New Zealand Council. Mr. M'Villey declined nomination on the grouud that, if ho ■ wore elected, it would mean that ho would .have, to, sever his. connection with tho local association. The committeo then decided to nominate' Mr.' H. Nelson, president of the association, for the office. Further, it was decided to nominate- sitting members on the committeo of tho New Zealand Council for re-elecion. John Griffin, of Grevmouth, wroto slating that it,,was probable that he and Tracer, of ■Wellington, would again 'bo matched to box in Greymouth beforo the end of the month. He suggested'that tho winner should be matched against Unholz, ex-lijhtwcight champion of the world, who is at present iu Sydney. Bert Murphy asked for another match against Tracey- for tho whole of the stake. A match against Tracey was also suggested by Jack Clarke, of tho Nowtown Pastimo Club, Sydney. Eudolph Unholz, ex-lightweight champion of the world, also inquired if he could get a match against the best lightweight in New Zealand.
